Branson Gift-Buyer’s Guide
Branson is just the place to finish your Christmas shopping (very, very) early. But what about that hard-to-please person on your list? Here are some unique ideas for stuff and stores to visit.
For the Vintage Fan
This shopping mainstay, located in charming downtown Branson, is a must-stop for anyone visiting the area. Dick's Old Time 5 & 10 is filled floor to ceiling with vintage items, toys, candy—pretty much anything you could possibly think of. Specialty items include more than 100 WWII aviation prints, as well as sports memorabilia. In general, Dick’s brings back memories of a simpler, less specialized type of shopping, from a day when visiting a store like Dick’s was a true experience. 103 W. Main St., 417-334-2410, dicksoldtime5and10.com
For the Fashionista
Collections at Big Cedar Lodge has some of the usual trappings of a fancy resort gift shop, lots of things really stand out, including a dazzling selection of fashion accessories, including belts, jewelry and a collection of purses that keeps the ladies buzzing. Brand-name apparel and fashions for all members of the family provide practical shopping, while specialty items ensure you can find something one-of-a-kind. 612 Devil’s Pool Rd., 800-225-6343, bigcedar.com
For the Collector with Taste
We could fill six of these magazines writing about all the shopping options at Silver Dollar City—they have blacksmiths on staff, after all—but we don’t have that kind of printing budget. But by far the most popular items at Silver Dollar City this summer, the park’s 50th in business, are these custom-made blown-glass vases, amber with black trim, made exclusively for this special summer. They come in a number of different styles, and sell for $64.99 (as of press time). There are other commemorative items, including candles, baskets, pottery and furniture, to be had in 2010, as well. 399 Silver Dollar City Pkwy., 800-475-9370, silverdollarcity.com
For the Christmas Elf
Kringle’s, located in the Grand Village Shops, is one of the largest dedicated, year-round Christmas shops in the Midwest. There you’ll find thousands of different Christmas items, including ornaments, decorations and more. It’s well worth a visit if there’s someone in your world who takes pride in his or her Christmas collection. 2800 W. St. Hwy. 76, 417-334-5426, grandvillageshops.com
