See the Stars, then Sleep Under Them
Branson’s hotels are dandy, but there’s no time like May and June to spend your nights under the stars or in a cabin.
Branson prides itself on outdoor attractions and entertainment. Let us add another item to the list of outdoor activities: Sleep.
That’s right: There is no shortage of cabins, campgrounds and RV parks in Branson, one to accommodate any degree of camper. Here are a few of our favorites.
The Wilderness
Lodgings: Campground, cabins of various sizes
Rates: $65-$188 per night
As ever, Silver Dollar City aims to replicate the pioneer experience with its Wilderness cabins and campgrounds. You just have to choose how authentic you want your experience to be. The Pioneer Cabin is cable- and TV-free (but comfy), with a fire circle and water spigot outside, but no in-room plumbing or decorations. Don’t want to rough it? Other cabins include kitchenette, jetted tubs and cable TV. A 50-amp powered RV site and campground is available for those who want to stay in their own vehicle or tent.

Rates: Fri.-Sat.: $275 (thru May 21); $325 (May 22 on)
Sun.-Thurs.: $225 (thru May 21); $275 (May 22 on)
If you’re not into sharing your cabin or campground experience with anyone but friends or family, Simpson’s Enchanted Hideaway is a single cabin with four rooms (two master suites, complete with Jacuzzi tubs), a five-person hot tub, a barbecue grill, full kitchen, washer-dryer flat-screens, high-speed Internet and more.

Table Rock State Park
Lodgings: Camping sites only
Rates: $13-$26
No cabins here, but Table Rock State Park is popular due to its affordability, facilities and proximity to the popular State Park Marina, which is loaded with water activities for all ages. Some sites you can reserve, so call ahead if you have something specific in mind.

KOA Branson
Lodgings: 18 cabins/lodges of various sizes, camping sites
Rates: $26 (tent site) to $130.23 (lodge) per night
Looking for a name you know? Branson’s KOA Kampground is making some changes for 2010, including adding a slide and hot tub to the pool area, expanding the exercise room, adding bathrooms to cabins and remodeling the lodge. All sites have electricity and access to food service, an off-leash dog park, a bouncy “jumping pillow” at the kids playground and limited shuttle service to Branson destinations.
