November 2009: Dining
We love a table with a view. Chateau Grille at Chateau on the Lake (415 N. St. Hwy. 265, 888-333-5253, chateauonthelake. com) is one of those places where the beauty outside is rivaled only by the beauty on your plate. A fi ne wine selection, top-fl ight steaks and excellent holiday celebrations (don’t miss Thanksgiving Day, if you’re spending the long weekend in Branson).
Penny Gilley not only has a daily show (Oct. 10-Dec. 13) at Theater Extraordinnaire and a TV show airing on RFD-TV, she also has a restaurant: Penny Gilley's Louisiana Fixin's Resteraunt (2005 W. St. Hwy. 76, 417- 334-8626, pennygilley. com). Need a po boy? Red beans and rice? Jambalaya? This is your stop.
In Branson, brunch is BIG, both literally and fi guratively. If you like a Bloody Mary with your meal, try the Worman House at Big Cedar. Sunday brunch at College of the Ozarks’ Keeter Center is only $20 or so (but no mimosas or Marys, sorry), and still massive. Either way, you’ll be good for the day… we promise.
