Spring Into Branson
Spring is a busy time for Branson. And lucky for you, we got the rundown of everything both old and new that’s coming this season, and it’s all under the umbrella of the Ozark Mountain Spring. Here’s what’s in store:
1. The 50th anniversary of Silver Dollar City. We’re most excited about the unveiling of the new water ride, Tom & Huck’s River Blast, but there’s also plenty of extra entertainment, giveaways and birthday cake. Lots of birthday cake.
2. The Missouri Food & Wine Festival. Once again, Chateau on the Lake will play host to the festival, which attracts more than 3,000 visitors. Get your appetite ready. New this year is a barbecue contest, a burger contest and cooking demonstrations.
3. The Ozark Medieval Fortress. Okay, so it’s not technically in Branson, but the 20-year project in Lead Hill, Arkansas is being dubbed a “castle in the making.” What’s its shtick? Visitors can come and watch a replica of a medieval castle being built—arched doorways, draw bridges and catapults included—using only 13th century tools and techniques (i.e. wood, stones, clay... ). The site is opens May 1.
4. Hollister Centennial. SDC isn’t the only one celebrating a birthday. Hollister turns 100 this year, and they’re kicking things off with the Hattitude Ball on April 30. (You guessed it: Hats are required.) Other weekend events include plenty of games, fireworks, live music and contests.
5. Titanic Branson’s Tribute to the Dogs. On March 19, Titanic Branson will debut their newest mascots, Molly and Carter, two Cavalier King Charles spaniels who represent the 10 dogs aboard the Titanic. Everyday at noon, the dogs will greet guests and perform tricks for visitors. We call that adorable.
